The dentist part 2

Shane has 1 cavity. It is in the middle of his front teeth. B/c it is in the middle & his teeth are thin, he need's 2 crowns. The pediatric dentist is only at my dentist office on Tuesdays, so every kid & their cousin is in there. I went to his scheduled appointment today and was there only 45 minutes before I got seen! Last time, we were there almost an hour before we got to the back and had to wait another 30 minutes before the dentist came in. AND there were about 15 kids in the waiting room. This time, there were only 6. So, the dentist came in and started getting him ready for the procedure. He asked the nurse to get a specific type of crown and said came back and said that this office did not carry the type that he likes to use. He said we could go ahead and use what they had in stock, or we could go to his office in ARLINGTON and use the crown he prefers. I decided that the drive would be worth it to get the type of crown that the dentist prefers. The earliest appointment is in 2 weeks! So, I have to wait another 2 weeks to get Shane's dental work done.

While I was there, I explained to the secretary that I had recently had work done & my teeth had been really hurting since then. They said they could fit me in sometime in the next hour. I decided to do that. I called my mother to come and pick up Shane b/c I did not want him to be too bored. As soon as I hung up with her, I was called back! I have never been seen that fast, EVER! I explained to the nurse which teeth were hurting and she took a picture of them. The whole time, Shane was sitting perfectly in a chair in the corner. He had 1 leg crossed over the other, and was holding up a Sports Illustrated magazine. He was looking at each page with a very serious look on his face. It looked as if he were reading the pages. He would calmly turn the page and continue looking. It was absolutely hilarious. The nurses kept peeking in to get a little laugh at the little man. He totally charmed the whole office. The dentist ground down my fillings a little and said that since they were deep fillings, they would be sensitive for a little while longer. She told gave me another prescription for VICODIN! I really do not like to take drugs. I would rather my body get rid of whatever on its own, but I really like how fast Vicodin works. I am very careful about taking pain pills. I will only take them as a last resort. We will see if my teeth stop hurting.

Westbrook 4th of July 2009

Well, this fourth was not as fun as those in years past. In fact, the only thing that I liked was that we had a b-day celebration for Brendan (9 year old nephew) & Shane. We got to Cleburne around 2. We went from there to the firework warehouse to get surprise, surprise, FIREWORKS! My in-laws stated that they did not have a lot of money to spend, but they ended up spending almost $200! I know people pay a lot more than that for a really good show, but to me, that is a lot of money. The reason they had to spend so much money, is that they had to get fireworks for everyone. Even the kids that are supposedly living on their own. True they are living on their own, but they are not supporting theirselves. It drives me nuts seeing them taking advantage of their parents who are trying to support themselves. Anyways, back to the story. Henry (Rock's dad), Dianne (Rock's mother), Tatom (Neice), and I all arrived at the store. I glanced over to say somehting to Tatom and noticed 2 very girly things on her. I could not believe what I was seeing and without thinking, blurted out, "You have Boobs!" She got so embarassed. She was 2 when I first met her. She was this little chatterbox. Now she is almost a teenager! It pains me to see her growing up, but at least she is growing into a beautiful young woman. We went into the store and Amanda (Rock's youngest younger sister) and her boyfriend, Devon, showed up. We were looking at the different fireworks when Amanda demanded that her mother buy her & Devon fireworks so that they can set them off. At first Dianne said she would buy them $10 worth of fireworks, but she ended up spending at least $50 on them. She had to buy fireworks for Tony (Rock's oldest younger brother) b/c eventhough he lives on his own and has a job, he can not buy anything for himself. As I stated before, it drives me crazy seeing him abuse his parents that way. All I asked for were some sparklers for Shane b/c I figured he would be able to do them this year. He is deathly afraid of, "BIG BOOM BOOM." (That's what he calls fireworks.) I even gave them $5 to get me some little fireworks.

We got home and decided we were hungry. Last time we were down, Tony & Tommy (Dianne's brother) bbq'd and both Rock & I got sick. I found out the night before that they were supposed to bbq so I decided to bring our $10 grill that we got 8years ago as a wedding present & some charcole. We were just going to cook for us, but Dianne asked us to cook for them b/c Tony & Tommy were out buying beer & she did not want to wait 3 hours like last time for them to get back and start cooking. Rock & his dad sat outside and bbq'd hamburgers, hot dogs, & sasuage. Now, I usually will get the cheapest pre-made patties, but Dianne decided to splurge this year and she got Angus patties. THOSE WERE THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD! They had bacon & ceddar bits in them and tasted absolutely wonderfull! I was only able to eat 3/4 of the burger b/c it was so good and filled me right up. I was surprised. Shane rarely eats, but he ate a hot dog, a hot dog bun (seperate from the dog), mashed potatoes & diced pears! Dianne was amazed. She had not seen him eat that much in such a long time.

As I mentioned before, this was not only a party celebrating the country, but a b-day party for Brendan & Shane. After eating, we decided to do cake & presents. We did the cake. Brendan had a transformers cake & Shane had a red velvet cake. Surprisingly this year, Shane did not cry as he was sung Happy b-day. After that, we opened presents. Tony's son Vladamir was there. That is one messed up little boy. I love him a lot, but he has problems. I think that one of his problems is that he does not get any attention from his parents except when they are yelling at him. He is 3 and can not talk. Shane had trouble being understood, but at least he could speak some works you could understand. Vladamir just points and mumbles baby talk. His parents do not encourage him to speak correctly. Anyways, back to presents. Brendan was opening his presents and loving them. Shane was having a ball opening his presents. Tony & his girlfriend (at least I think that they are seeing each other at the moment. It changes from week to week), Melissa (the mother to Vladamir) just sat there as Vladamir tried to grab presents from Shane. I know that it takes time for kids to learn manners, who gets to open presents, but as a parent, if my child was grabbing presents and trying to open them, I would stop Shane. Tony & Melissa just sat there. Well, Tony was leaning b/c it was 5 and he was already drunk! I tried to get Vladamir to sit in my lap, but he started screaming and flailing about. I quickly let him go and noticed that Melissa was glaring at me. I felt like yelling at her to teach her kid manners, but I just smiled and tried to work with Vladamir. I finally gave him a present to open so that he would leave shane alone. Melissa & Amy got him some matchbox cars, which he loved and was so excited to get. We got him a Leapfrog Tag reader. Henry & Dianne got him 2 books, a caring case & an Indian Jones 4 poster! Shane was so excited to open all his presents! He was thanking everyone and hugging everyone with out being told to! What a sweet boy. Brendan got a bunch of Pokemon cards from everyone, a small portable stereo from his mother, a PSP game, and we gave him our old clock radio from our bedroom. The only reason we got a new one is that the color on the dial was too bright for me. It is an alarm clock, AM/FM radio, and plays a single cd! Brendan was so excited b/c now he could tell time in his bedroom & wake up at a specific time!

After presents, we ate cake & I laid down. I was so tired. I was at the stage right before sleep, when you are resting but still able to hear what is going on around you. I was in the front room, Rocky & the kids were in the family room. I kept hearing, "Vladamir, NO. Vladamir, STOP." Aparently Shane was trying to build things with building blocks and Valdamir would come over and destroy whatever Shane was building. Shane was getting really upset. Then Shane would shift his attention to a big Grave Digger toy and Vladamir would try to take it away from him. If I had been in there, I would have spanked Vladamir and made him stand at the wall. Tony & Melissa, Amy, & Tommy were outside drinking more beer and smoking. Shane wanted to go outside, so I let him for a few minutes. I had to bring him inside b/c even though they were in the front of the house, and we were in the back, we could hear their cussing & screaming at each other and thinking they were so funny. Shane wanted to ride a tricycle, but Vladamir kept trying to push him off. Finally, Shane wanted to come inside and he stayed inside for a while.

Amanda, Devin, & Toby started shooting of their fireworks around 7:30. They were blowing up gifts from ex's. They would shove fireworks up the bottom of the bear & try to blow them up. Only 1 bear got air. It was so awesome! It flew about 10 feed in the air, then as it landed, the firework blew up. It was hilarous. After about an hour, I sked them to not do the big fireworks and got Shane to come outside. I wanted to see if he would do the sparklers. He thought they were cool to look at, but would not touch one. Then either Tony or Tommy decided to start shooting of shreiking ones and that scared Shane so much. They thought it was hilarous. It was kinda funny, but not that funny b/c Shane got so scared. He was screaming and crying as if he had just hurt himself majorly. I took him inside and Rock stayed outside to video the fireworks. I went out around 10 and he was so bored. Vladamir kept getting yelled at b/c he would not sit in the back of Tony's van and just watch. He wanted to be right there where all the action was and part of the action. All Tony did was scream & yell at him whenever he got in the way. He finally brought him inside and returned getting drunker and dumber.

Finally, they were ready to do the grand finale. They set it off in the couldesack and 1 went awry. It shot off to the side right by Amy & Amanda. I was inside watching and laughed at first just b/c it shot off into them, but then I headed outside to see if anyone was hurt. Amy was crying and claiming she could not see. Amanda was trying to escort her into the house. I quickly took over and helped her up the stairs and into the house. The others were just sitting there laughing. I am glad that I was so focused on Amy or I might have said some things that are not very nice. We sat Amy down and she started having a seizure. Dianne kept trying to talk to her. She was telling Amy to calm down and stop. I tried to explain to her that Amy could not hear her but Dianne claimed she was only having a panic attack. That woman does not understand. She could not be convinced that Amy was having a seizure even when Tatom came into the room and confirmed it was a seizure. Tatom knew what to do. I was so proud of that little girl. She knew to keep her on her side so that she could not swallow her tounge. Finally Amy stated to come out of the seizure. We left after she got up and went outside to smoke.

So, it was a very eventful fourth, but I do not wish for all the drama. I think that next year, we will save up our money and shoot them off at our house or my mother's.

Bored

Well, today started out as a pretty good day. I went to a b-day party for a friend of mine last night and did not get back until 1 A.M.! It took me about 1 hour to fall asleep and then I woke up at 7:30! I was actually awake & not tired. I waited till 9 to call Amy & wish her a happy b-day. I sang a song rather loudly and wished her happy b-day and then hung up on her. It was funny. We went to Wal Mart! Yeah! That store TOTALLY ROCKS! Not really, but it was better than sitting at home. I bought Shane a b-day present. I got him a Leapfrog Tag reader. He will love it! When we got home, we watched The World's Dumbest. That show is awesome! I love it. I was still bored and so I went into the bathroom. I saw a pair of scissors on the counter & got an idea! Guess what that idea was. Here is a hint :

I CUT MY HAIR! I cut off about 2 inches & gave myself some layers in the back. It does not look half bad.
I am very proud of myself! It feels great! My neck is cool!

As I am typing, I am being snuck up on by 2 Vaders weilding lightsbers. Shane & Rocky just double teamed me! Shane hit my head, I started to pretend cry, he got concerned & kissed my head. They ran into the living room and started lightsaber fighting. Now they are watching A New Hope. It is like I have 2 kids. Wait, I do have 2 kids. Rocky & Shane! Those two are so funny together. I am even going to be brave and make Rocky take me out to dinner! I am going to ask everyone what they think of my hair.

Being bored with scissors is a bad idea for anyone...
