Shane has 1 cavity. It is in the middle of his front teeth. B/c it is in the middle & his teeth are thin, he need's 2 crowns. The pediatric dentist is only at my dentist office on Tuesdays, so every kid & their cousin is in there. I went to his scheduled appointment today and was there only 45 minutes before I got seen! Last time, we were there almost an hour before we got to the back and had to wait another 30 minutes before the dentist came in. AND there were about 15 kids in the waiting room. This time, there were only 6. So, the dentist came in and started getting him ready for the procedure. He asked the nurse to get a specific type of crown and said came back and said that this office did not carry the type that he likes to use. He said we could go ahead and use what they had in stock, or we could go to his office in ARLINGTON and use the crown he prefers. I decided that the drive would be worth it to get the type of crown that the dentist prefers. The earliest appointment is in 2 weeks! So, I have to wait another 2 weeks to get Shane's dental work done.
While I was there, I explained to the secretary that I had recently had work done & my teeth had been really hurting since then. They said they could fit me in sometime in the next hour. I decided to do that. I called my mother to come and pick up Shane b/c I did not want him to be too bored. As soon as I hung up with her, I was called back! I have never been seen that fast, EVER! I explained to the nurse which teeth were hurting and she took a picture of them. The whole time, Shane was sitting perfectly in a chair in the corner. He had 1 leg crossed over the other, and was holding up a Sports Illustrated magazine. He was looking at each page with a very serious look on his face. It looked as if he were reading the pages. He would calmly turn the page and continue looking. It was absolutely hilarious. The nurses kept peeking in to get a little laugh at the little man. He totally charmed the whole office. The dentist ground down my fillings a little and said that since they were deep fillings, they would be sensitive for a little while longer. She told gave me another prescription for VICODIN! I really do not like to take drugs. I would rather my body get rid of whatever on its own, but I really like how fast Vicodin works. I am very careful about taking pain pills. I will only take them as a last resort. We will see if my teeth stop hurting.
